Derry's Clock - Plymouth new
Derry's Clock - Plymouth

Derry's Clock - Plymouth
Description: Tucked away behind the Theatre Royal is this ornate clock tower. It was built in 1862 with money donated by William Derry, a local businessman who went on to become mayor. Apparently, the clock tower was actually listed as a fountain due to some bureaucratic loophole.
Before the Blitz in 1941, when most of the city centre was levelled Derry's Clock stood in what was one of the main hubs of Plymouth a world away from its quiet position today
