Haldon Belvedere (Lawrence Castle)

Set on a hilltop overlooking the Exe estuary is Haldon Belvedere or Lawrence Castle as it is sometimes known. The tower is actually triangular in plan and was built in the late 18th century by Robert Palk as a memorial to his friend Major-General Stringer Lawrence.

The building is now grade II listed and is open to the public.
