Dartmoor Prison

Building of Dartmoor Prison in Princetown commenced in 1806. It was built by Thomas Tyrwitt to house prisoners from first the Napoleonic wars and later the American war of independence.

Behind you can see some of the mast atop North Hessary Tor. Held upright by a series of cables the mast measures 196 metres (643 ft)
