Hartland Abbey

Dating back to Norman times Hartland Abbey when it was an Augustinian Abbey . However Hartland met the fate of all England's other abbeys in 1539 with Henry VII's Dissolution.

The current house is the home of Sir Hugh George Copplestone Bampfylde Stucley (!) and family. It consists of some Tudor elements and many 18th century additions.

Hartland Abbey was used as a film location in the BBC's 2008 adaption of Sense and Sensibility where it was Mrs Dashwood's House.
