The M.S. Oldenburg docked on Lundy Island, 12 miles (19 km) off the coast of North Devon. Lundy sits at the mouth of the Bristol Channel and is the largest island in the channel at around 3.5 miles (5km) long.
The M.S. Oldenburg is the principal ferry from the mainland, sailing from both Ilfracombe and Bideford. Built in 1958 she is capable of carrying 267 passengers. The journey takes around 1.5 hrs.
